I thought the RM3 action is Kawai's very best? The CA93 right besides it was immaculate.

thought the RM3 action is Kawai's very best? Correct - the 'RM3 Grand' action is Kawai's latest, and therefore most realistic wooden-key DP keyboard action. Regarding key spacing issues, I refer you to this post from KawaiDon, Kawai America's resident acoustic piano guru, in response to issues affecting early shipments of the MP10. Regarding key spacing issues, this is a common thing to see in acoustic pianos, and happens more in the winter from dryness. The beauty of the wooden key action Kawai makes is the great feel, but then we all have to work with the nature of wood. Key spacing and alignment is part of the normal acoustic piano action regulation process, so is well understood in that world. Since most digital keyboards have plastic keys we aren't used to seeing this.
The key spacing can move a little in the first winter especially, but then should be stable. If the spacing becomes a problem owners should contact Kawai Technical Support. A service person (especially a piano technician) can get them lined up nicely, and after the first year out in the real world they should not move again. Kind regards, James x

Kind regards, James x Thanks for posting that James. Very informative, and actually makes perfect sense. Slightly off topic, key space issues or not, I've got to get a Kawai piano sooner than later. My voice teacher has a beautiful Kawai grand, and it just sings, and plays effortlessly.

Can't Kawai age the wood for another year to prevent the uneven gaps from happening in the first place? Looks awful.
I do have a Kawai acoustic grand (RX-3), I have never noticed any uneven gaps.
