Does anyone know of someone experienced with the Bluthner Patent Grand Action in the Boston area? My Style 7 needs regulation.

Thanks.

Best bet is to go to ptg.org and do a search for techs in your area. Just go down the list. If you can't find anyone with experience(I'd be surprised), you might be able to convince one to learn how.

I am in a similar situation of my Bluthner Patent action needing regulation. Via Bluthners in London I was lucky to get the services of their chief concert technician. He was not very familiar with the Patent action; but Bluthner publish the procedure for regulating the Patent action on their web site and in a little brochure, so he worked on that basis. Unfortunately problems developed, because the wear in the 130-year-old action is such that the detailed regulation procedure cannot be worked through in full. The upshot is that it is not really possible to regulate the piano properly, unless I have the action rebuilt. Which is something I am considering having done.

Your piano is probably not as old as mine, and may have less wear; but this action has not been manufactured for 90 years now.

You really would benefit from finding someone experienced with the Patent action. Unfortunately I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic and cannot suggest anyone.

I would be interested to know the serial number of your Bluthner. Mine is 16189.

Hi Usedto-

I am a technician in the Rt. 2 area who recently acquired a Bluthner model 8 c.1913 with the patent action. I will be rebuilding my piano over the next 3-4 months and will be happy to talk to you about regulating your piano as well.

Please let me know if you would like to pursue this further to my return email address: info@AtkinsPiano.com.

Hello UTPM,

I am a technician in Cambridge and have experience with Bluthners. I would not be able to devote the proper amount of time for a high quality regulation for another 3 months, but if you can wait that long, I'd be very glad to take on that project.

I have several levels of regulations available to fit budget requirements.
