Does anyone know of someone experienced with the Bluthner Patent Grand Action in the Boston area? My Style 7 needs regulation.

Best bet is to go to ptg.org and do a search for techs in your area. Just go down the list. If you can't find anyone with experience(I'd be surprised), you might be able to convince one to learn how.

I am in a similar situation of my Bluthner Patent action needing regulation. Via Bluthners in London I was lucky to get the services of their chief concert technician. He was not very familiar with the Patent action; but Bluthner publish the procedure for regulating the Patent action on their web site and in a little brochure, so he worked on that basis. Unfortunately problems developed, because the wear in the 130-year-old action is such that the detailed regulation procedure cannot be worked through in full. The upshot is that it is not really possible to regulate the piano properly, unless I have the action rebuilt. Which is something I am considering having done.

Your piano is probably not as old as mine, and may have less wear; but this action has not been manufactured for 90 years now.

You really would benefit from finding someone experienced with the Patent action. Unfortunately I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic and cannot suggest anyone.

I would be interested to know the serial number of your Bluthner. Mine is 16189.

I am a technician in the Rt. 2 area who recently acquired a Bluthner model 8 c.1913 with the patent action. I will be rebuilding my piano over the next 3-4 months and will be happy to talk to you about regulating your piano as well.

Hello UTPM,

I am a technician in Cambridge and have experience with Bluthners. I would not be able to devote the proper amount of time for a high quality regulation for another 3 months, but if you can wait that long, I'd be very glad to take on that project.

I have several levels of regulations available to fit budget requirements.
