is there a way to change the behavior of the strings on the 155 - when I demoed at the store the other day it dawned on my that when you layer piano and strings that the strings will die down when you let go of a key but the sustain is down. Is there a toggle for this feature ? I like my stings to stay until I let the sustain pedal go ? I looked in the manual online an didn't see anything obvious ?

I've played the p250 and cp50 and the strings behave the way i want and wondered if the p155 can do that do with a setting change. And can it be saved to memory if there is one ?

thanks

There are two "strings" on the P155 and they act differently in how the volume envelope works.

But I think they do sustain if you use the pedal. But even the piano voice with the pedal down will die out if you wait long enough. It's just the natural decay of the note. I think (?) one of the two strings has a longer decay.

My problem with layering on the P155 is that I can't control the relative volume of the two sounds in real time. I have to just set it and leave it as the control is down in a menu function. So I think the string sound gets "old" after a half dozen bars if you can't control it

But do try both "strings 1" and "strings 2".

Chris, is it not possible to use a volume pedal to control the volume of the layered strings voice?

The P155 has a second pedal and it's function is assignable but controlling relative volume of two layers is not one of the functions.

I think you'd need a MIDI pedal and a computer in the loop to be able to be able to control the volume of the second layer. But once you have a computer connected you pretty much can do anything you can think of

I did just checked on my P155 and can't figure out what the problem is. Both strings 1 and strings 2 act like I'd expect when you use the sustain pedal. The layered string continues to play when the pedal is down just like if I held the key(s) down. It works as you'd expect but as I said my opinion is the effect gets a bit "old" if over used.
