Which exam board is genreally tougher?
What are the differences between the two?

Have you looked at their requirements on their respective websites?

Regards,

I'm gonna go out on a limp and say ABRSM is probably the biggest, most well-known and the one that pulls in the most revenue (though they're all probably non-profit) out there. Growing up, ABRSM was the one I took and everybody I knew took their exams too.

As to which one is tougher, I don't have experience with LSM so I can't really say.

ABRSM is the oldest and probably still the best known globally. I haven't heard of LCM as an exam board - but I'm out of the loop. Many of my colleagues have turned as an alternative to TCL (Trinity College London). As far as I am aware this is not because of any perceived difference in standards but that they find it a more interesting system to follow.

I don't know the LCM but ABRSM is well known and also very easy to pass.

John

I think the choice should be between ABRSM and TCL (I think they are now called Trinity Guildhall) - they are more globally recognised than LCM. I don't know about their difference for graded exams. But TCL exams at diploma level are actually easier because there's much more to do for ABRSM diplomas:
ABRSM: recital + quick study + viva voce
TCL: recital + programme notes
But the standard of playing required should be the same for both.
