Does anyone here play Bossa Nova? I would be interested in learning how to play this style. If anyone has any links with maybe just general info about the style, characteristics of it and such, please post!

Also if anyone knows of any easier or intro pieces to get used to playing the style that would be pretty cool. Eventually I would love to be able to just sit down and improvise some bossa nova, but that will surely take time. I took 3 semesters of Brazilian Portuguese, maybe one day I can even sing along grin

Totally off-topic side note: I talked to the admissions office at a school in TX about their Air Traffic Control program. After hearing my educational background they said I'm highly qualified and should apply ASAP. Very excited, thought I would share. I'm gonna be successful woohoo smokin

Hey beechcraft, I have a version of Insensatez in my signature. Check it out if you'd like.

Take care.

Congrats on the good news regarding ATC, beechcraft. I considered that career myself at one time, but ended up in law school instead. If you make it through to a job, you will be successful indeed, although stressed out like the rest of us (or even more so). Good for you.

Try playing the chords to a bossa tune with the following two bar pattern (I don't know how to properly notate rhythm):
First Bar: Play on beats 1, 2, the and of 3, and the and of 4 (hold this note over to the next bar).
Second Bar: Play on beats 2, the and of three, and the and of 4.
Repeat.
