MOYD players play everyday, we don't need no stinking NAMM... Yah! What he said ! (lol..... I checked it out though - and it is only open to folks in the USA anyway, so ...c'est la vie, couldn't even if I wanted to ) Looks like fun and could get a lot of folks nudged in a positive direction!

Sooo much easier than MOYD though ... you don't even need to practice! Woo-hoo, .... but I will get the same results if I don't practice right?! I've actually done three out of the four things it lists this year ... so it's an easy pledge: - Take Music Lessons: Yup, had my lesson yesterday.
- Dust off and tune that old instrument in my closet: To do. I'll have to get the flute out this weekend!
- Purchase a musical instrument: My lovely K3 bought last month!
- Visit my local music store: Did that Wednesday and bought some sight reading books!

- Take Music Lessons: Too busy with choir, jazz, orchestra, band symphonic winds and my math and CSci majors. I learned this the hard way by almost dying my freshman year when I did take lessons.
- Dust off and tune that old instrument in my closet: I started playing piano again last fall with Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Not exactly light reading.
- Purchase a musical instrument: I already have a professional grade oboe, 6-string electric bass, and my parents have a piano.
- Visit my local music store: I do this whenever I don't do my shopping online.
Sorry if that list makes me sound like an egoistic musician, but I am proud of my musical commitment. I play at least two instruments (including voice) every day.

Just to make my point also, I think too many lonely people on the social media nowadays...
And I have been around computers for so long repairing etc., remember the old days of chat relay the old dial up, AOL you got mail..!! msn chat..etc.. by the way I don't even use cellphone don't need it and they're so "boring" everything else I may own no I pad but a rooted nook color, net books etc.. I help my mates to use their own cells instead when they ask for help.. but Facebook.. well I choose to deal with real people face to face..

Facebook for the folks that dont know, is a place where one can "garnish" oneself with up to 5,000 "friends. After 5,000 facebook decides you have to many and will not allow more to "friend you" Naturally, it has become a competition to have the maximum amount of alleged "friends". There are obvious dangers of having "unknown quantities " as such friends..... To keep on topic.... Here is a song warning of the dangers of collecting such friends via facebook....bitingly sarcastic and witty to boot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlzFb5His7k

I've never liked facebook for the shallowness of it. Although i made an acount to look for some old classmates i enter facebook rarely and briefly. In fact i resent facebook because 99% of the "relationships" going on there are fake and have nothing to do with real life. I'll make the pledge though;)

"I refuse to join Facebook.I miss the good old days of PHONEBOOK."
I hear you. And I miss the days of the Little Black Book. So cryptic those dark, inky crystals waiting at any time at all to expand under your attention, your touch, your voice, and your thought and attention becoming real, living (and very interesting) people, whose stories could be added to, if you wished and circumstances allowed. It's not so different from interpreting black ink spots on a piano score.
A Previous poster complained of Facebook's shallowness, but that, of course, is the secret of its success. That, and checking other people out without your friends glued to your every move and nuance.
