Here is the first half of the recital that I gave recently. I didn't post it with the other half because I thought these were weaker on the whole. But I figure it's always good to have outside input anyway, so here they are:

Ligeti: Etude No. 2: Cordes a vide

Ligeti: Etude No. 6: Automne a Varsovie

Mozart: Rondo in A minor, K. 511

Schumann: Kreisleriana

Thus far, I've listened to the first six selections from the Schumann. You play BEAUTIFULLY !!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm assuming that you are a graduate piano major at Eastman - correct???

Thanks, Carey! I'm a senior at Eastman and a week away from graduating--scary!

The plan is to take a year off to practice for grad school auditions and generally improve myself. I figure I could use the year to see if I can get some lessons with teachers and figure out where I want to apply. The immediate problem, of course, is finding a job... cry

I've been looking forward to taking time to listen to this ever since I saw your posting go up! I have just finished the Ligeti and am part-way through the Mozart and I am enjoying your performance of the first half of your recital as much as I enjoyed the second half, time warp notwithstanding! smile

"Weaker on the whole"? Nope. Don't thinnnk so. Sometimes, you get so close to the music you know, and the way you have it plotted inside yourself for the way you want it to come out, that you cannot adequately judge the performance.

Your playing is gorgeous and exciting and engaging and definitely worth listening to! You are a WONDERFUL pianist! If I knew you were coming anywhere near my town to play a concert, I would DEFINITELY come to hear you play!!!

Thank you so much for posting these selections!

--Andy

P.S. Does this mean we have to wait at least two years before we get to hear more? frown

Just wanted to say, I finished listening to all of the selections. Kreisleriana No. 6 was absolutely, ponderously beautiful.

Thanks, again, for sharing these.
