I've uploaded these recordings to a good host site for composers to make it easier to post.

I've put my String Quartet No. I, and "Panorama" a trio for Flute, Piano, and Cello.

Tell me what ya'll think, I can upload a PDF score if anyone desires.

Cheers!

I dont like the melody of your ballade sounds very cheap. Also its sounding like a jazz piece with pointless octaves. Sorry for relentless criticism but its better than saying lie.

Hi Matthew. I'm unable to listen to these at the moment but just thought I'd chip in to say don't be discouraged by Batuhan's response. Wait for a few more responses first. smile All sorts of posters (from the expert to the non-expert) pop in here and comment - hopefully some more will listen to your work too.

I think it would be a good idea to include a score. I often look at scores when I don't have time to listen to complete works.

cheers,
currawong

The Ballad is quite Creative in my opinion. There are some elements in the piece that sort of remind me of the Barber Sonata there is also a section that is quasi Impressionist in Nature. Its pretty good.

batuhan is a very dedicated Chopin lover! laugh So don't mind him too much! laugh

The ballad sounds quite good, in my opinion. It's a little 'undeveloped' (meaning that I feel that there are a few awkward moments scattered around), but it works very well for a 3 minute work that it is.

The string quartet sounds much more interesting, I have to admit, but I also need to admit that I don't have the time to listen to it properly, as it deserves...

The ballad is actually my first composition...

Composing for the piano as a solo instrument has always been hard for me since I am a pianist myself. So when I got to college and started composing I wrote that piece. All of the octaves are definitely inherited from the romantic style of composition for the piano. My own pianism I feel gets in the way of composing for piano.

But yes, the piece is definitely immature, but I leave it up there because I think it's nice to see the development of a voice from one piece to the next, as a composer matures.
