After trying lots of DPs it comes down to the sound of Kawai for me... I really like the feel of the CA series, or a close second the CNs...

However, I would prefer something more compact - along the lines of the CL series... unfortunately they only seem to come with a fairly low specification in terms of action and sound generation...

I notice they seem to be rolling out new models, including a CL with a not-quite-as-good-as-the-CN-range keyboard and puney amp/speakers...

Roland do a higher spec 'compact' in the DP990F - is Kawai planning on doing something similar in the future?

A CL with the RM3 keys and a decent amp and speaker setup? Sold!

The CL36 offers the same PHI sound engine, RH keyboard action, and speakers as the CN23. The amplifier is a little less powerful, but the still packs a surprising amount of punch.

Not in the near future, I'm afraid. The Kawai L1 featured the previous generation AWA Grand Pro II wooden key action in a relatively compact cabinet, however this model was not sold outside of Japan.

That's tricky due to the length of the RM3 Grand keys - the action alone is probably around the same depth as the entire DP990F cabinet.
The CA13 is probably the most 'compact' wooden-key Kawai DP currently available, although this is obviously a little different in form to the CL36.

Cheers,
James

Thanks James - was hoping you'd be able to provide some answers!

So, the keys on the CL36 are identical to the CN23, and only different to the CN33 in that there is no 'Let Off'?... And the sound generation is the same on all three models?
