Now that my Transcendental Etudes have pretty much bit it (a very old, very worn used Shirmer copy, edited by Gallico), it's time for me to invest in a new score. I realized, though, that I really don't know what the quintessential, industry-standard publisher editor is for Liszt. Any suggestions? I saw that Busoni has edited one...

Editio Musica Budapest/Peters/Henle I like the "Editio Musica Budapest". Never had a Henle.

Peters, if you're on a budget, but Henle really is exemplary, if you can afford the price of entry. Gorgeous engraving, excellent distinction between original and editorial fingerings, and so forth. Henle also stays open easier.
