Are you running an antivirus, Rafael? If so, it'll let you know. If not, there are a bunch of good programs out there, both free and paid.

Yes, I have an antivirus running. I have no notification from it.

I'am also using FireFox. I've got an alert from FireFox saying PW site was dangerous and it refused to access it.

I tried several times with the same alert. Then suddenly, it went normally, with no more alerts.

I suppose all is fine now with PW and I'm not infected, but I wanted to know what can I make to be sure I'm not infected.

Also....Joe, and other Mac or Linux/UNIX users....the java applet would have required administrator permission to run. You would gotten a pop-up asking for your permission/password. So you're safe!

LOL! It asks for permission to wreck your system.

Thanks!

If you are getting this kind of message, why in the world would you change your options to ignore the message?

It's trying to tell you something, you would do well to listen.

Bypassing errors is one of the sure ways to get yourself in trouble.

I use both PC's and MAC's and don't think for a second that MACs are immune to these problems. They have fewer problems (partly because there are far fewer MACs) but I've had my share of problems with them too.

Just come back occasionally to see if the problem is solved.

The problem is solved, but you are correct with your advise. Do not ignore warnings. At the very least if it's on PW, contact me personally or one of our moderators.

Rafael,

In the future, you could use the NoScript addon for FF. This will prevent any Java or JavaScript from running in your browser without your explicit permission. http://noscript.net/

Macs are by no means immune, but they are harder to infect because of how UNIX handles files. Windows files can be self-executing and happen behind the scenes with no user input. In UNIX, files have to be made executable before they can run, i.e., the user has to grant permission. In this case, a java applet would have popped up asking for an administrator password, which most people wouldn't give since they didn't just try to install anything. On a Windows system, however, malware can self-execute.
