I'm doubting between the RD700GX and the FP-7 (old version). Was is the experience of you people out there? A comparison?

It is for a modern bigband. There we play Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, Adele, and so on.

Both are the older version. If you were comparing the new versions of each I'd saythe FP7F is the better value. Butbetween the previous versions the RD700GX is more expensive but I think it has better keys and also can be upgraded to Supernatural pianos. But if you can afford an RD700GX why not a brand new FP7-F? I think the new FP7F has everytrhing I'd want from the old RD700 but for a lower price

That music requires a lot of synth, piano sound not so important. I would get something g under 35 pounds like an FP4 or some other option.

I play also sometomes in weddings with a singer. There I need a good piano sound. A bad piano sound irritates me very fast. I was also thinking of a yamaha S90ES. The piano seems to be better then the newer S90XS.

Hi Matje,

On my recent purchase I was actually able to test the S90ES... it has a good sound and feel, but I really liked the Roland FP-7F much better in the end, depending on your likes, the Yamaha has a, to my feel, heavier keyboard but less control over the dynamics.

Also the fact that they were selling it here for $3500 may have swayed my judgement, so take it with a pinch of salt smile .

Good luck,
Rafa.

I have an FP4 (same sounds as the FP7) that I use with a traditional big band, but I don't find the synth tones to be very good, if that's your main need as Jazz+ suggested. The piano cuts through nicely with the charts we use, though, and I'd much rather carry the FP4 than the FP7. The FP4 action is lighter than the FP7, but I adapted to it pretty quickly.
