Hi, i'm gonna buy a dp soon.As it has to be Yamaha ( my father runs a music shop and can only get me yamaha ) i ended up with yamaha p155/CP33 or ( for a bit more of money ) CP50. 1 -What do you guys think about these 3 in terms of piano touch/action/sensitivity ? Are they equal in this aspect ? 2 - Does these 3 have GH ? Does the 4-level AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling and Pure CF Sampling ( avaliable on p155 ) are built in all these DP's? And does it really make a difference ? 3 - Do you guys think the CP50 is really worth the extra-money ? 4 - Between p155/CP33 which one you guys prefer in terms of touch/action/sensitivity ?
Thanks a lot in advance

I'm not 100% positive, but I think the sound and feel of the P155 and CP33 are identical. The difference is basically that the P155 has built in speakers but no MIDI controller functions, while the CP33 has MIDI controller functions but no built in speakers.
I think the CP50 action is different, but I'm not sure I could say whether it is better or worse. Though the CP5, to me, clearly feels much better than any of them. I only played them very briefly, and through not-great speakers, so I'll offer no opinion about how these sound compared to the older models.

The P155 and CP33 have the same action. Not sure about the CP5 or CP50.
Sometime pianos with the same action feel different. Not sure why. Maybe it's just sample variation.

The action of the CP5 is very light and (in my opinion) unsuitable for playing classical music, if that's your goal. Perhaps it's great for modern styles of music. I wouldn't buy the CP33 because of the unpleasant looping of its piano samples. Have no opinion on the P155 and CP50

Hi, about CP33 and P155: Both have GH action, but different sound (P155 has 4 level sampling, CP33 has 3 levels, does not make a lot of difference though). P155 has built in speakers as pointed out above, in return CP 33 does better as a MIDI controller (master keyboard functions). I haven't tried the CP 50 but among the former two I'd go for the P155 if piano playing is your main interest, and if you'd like to have the speakers.

All 3 have the same action. Just go to your dad's store and try them out. The one downside to the CP33 and P155 is that they allow for only 2 pedals. If you want the full complement of 3 piano pedals with either of those, you'll have to get at least one MIDI Solutions interface. The CP50 has 3 pedal jacks, so it should be ready to go on all 3 pedals. One possible downside to the CP50 is that it might fail the silent replay test (though it's a rather esoteric technique so it might not matter to you). I know the CP5 fails it, so I'd imagine the CP50 fails it, but I haven't tried a CP50.

I have a CP50. The touch is rather good and silent (silence is not the case of Roland's keys...) My complain is that there is a small resistance at the beginning of the depression of the keys (whereas on my real piano the the beginning of the depression of the keys is very light) But the most digital pianos are the same default. Otherwise the weighting of the keys is quite comparable to my real piano (except for the keys of the right side of the keyboard wich are a little too heavy)
The piano's sound is magical !!! I love the Yamaha's sound. It's wonderful !!! (I had a HP307 before...) However, at low velocities the timbre of the sound does not vary (only volume) and the decay is really short. I'd prefer the sound engine of a Yamaha N1, N2 or N3 but it's not the same price... The advantage of the CP50 over a P155 is the other sounds : the DX sounds are wonderful (really !!!!!) the Rhodes are very good and there is a lot of other sounds (pads, strings, ...) that are very good too. The CP50 has no internal speakers but for me it's not a big problem
I'm really happy with my CP50 !!!!!!!

Sometime pianos with the same action feel different. Not sure why. Maybe it's just sample variation. Maybe the action is not the same. I could never figure out whether terms like GHS referred to a specific component, meaning that every GHS keyboard had the identical action, or whether it was a name that could be applied to a family of components, similar to the Trinitron name that Sony used to use for a wide range of TVs of different sizes.

My sister has the Clavinova CLP-380 which is GH3+NW, I like the action but don't have the money so I checked out the CLP-370 which has the GH3+NW action, too. However, the action on the 370 felt considerably lighter to the point I could not play it expressively. Bear in min the keyboard action is something EXTREMELY subjective, what you will find unsuitable for you might be found perfectly ok by someone else. I'd rather GH and GHS actions but dislike the GH3.
