Some Spanish music to close this weekend: the final dance from "El sombrero de tres picos" (The three-cornered hat) by Falla.

Happy week to everyone!

Lately I'm hooked on Brahms' third piano quartet, and I still wonder whether this quartet is an intellectual work or it's a passionate piece of music. Maybe this question represents a contradiction, but is difficult to answer, I think.

Btw, probably there will be better performances, but this one by these young musicians is so touching...

Greetings everyone! This is where I wanted to start my day to hear some good music today! While I can't spend much time writing (as I used to do), I am spending much more time at the piano, and learning new things about adjusting to being a retiree.

I've certainly been enjoying listening to everyone's posting. My biggest challenge is doing more music and less writing and talking. Rather than try to explain why, I'll just shut up and let you enjoy this! smile

So glad to hear that Griffin, it's all of our pleasure to see you happy with your piano - you deserved it so much, after spending so many busy years away from your love smile Don't worry about less writings, your contributions to RST is too enormous to mention!!! Even after your long absence I can always feel you here!

...and guess what...

WISH YOU A VERY VERY HAPPY, PROSPEROUS AND HEALTHY BIRTHDAY!!!

...and may all of your dreams come true...may you reach your ultimate goal with music smile

Many happy returns, Griffin!

I offer a selection you can choose any or all from. Two of them would thrill me on my birthday wink

Have a great day!

Thanks for the birthday greetings, Rupak, Richard, and Recaredo. I'll be listening to your postings a bit later this evening. I'm looking forward to it. Right now it's dinner time and my other half is preparing something special for me. I must be off. Thanks everyone! smile

Giulini's recording of Schumann's Rhenish symphony is one of the high peaks of my record collection. I can't recommend it enough.
I can only find this extract of the original on YT.

Here is a live recording. The sound quality is poor but the performance still shines through.

Hi Timmy, I agree with you, that recording is amazing. I bought it when was released in the "Master" serie of DG, together with a great rendition on Beethoven 5th.

Cheers!

Some days ago I took my youngest to school, and like everyday I went to kiss him when we arrived. But this time he refused my kiss and said he was not a little child anymore.

Life is so, but at that moment I felt sad.

Happy Christmas everyone.
My mum loves this album and it's always played on Christmas day. I can highly recommend it.

I must say that this time of year can upset me sometimes when I think of happy times in the past and all those people that are no longer here.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! smile

I'm enjoying all the wonderful Christmas music selections (it's almost the Christmas day here in India!) It's a totally inexplicable feeling of joy and happiness to listen them on this very very special occasion! Thank you so much Recaredo, Griffin, Timmy, Richard and (...um...what the!!!...anyway...)Wayne (wink laugh )for sharing them!

Here is my contribution: smile

Another video I've been recently introduced to by one of my seniors (who is a die-hard fan of Beethoven!) is this:

Though it's not exactly appropriate for this occasion (or is it, for any joyous occasion? grin ) but it really touched me! So couldn't help sharing smile

Enjoy your holidays!

I do love the accurate voice of this girl.

By the way, my nephew Sergio played the piano and the keyboard for this recording. He made the arrangements for the songs too. I feel proud of him.

I hope you like it.
