Hi, I'm sure this question has already been asked 10^6 times, but... I've been searching for good online piano lessons, and haven't really found what I'm looking for. Basically, I'm wanting to learn to play solo and for church. I want to be able to read basic sheet music and add my own improvisation. So ideally I would like to play by ear. I'm still pretty much a newbie. So I bought RocketPiano a while ago, and its helping with the theory. But I'm struggling to know how to use what I'm learning. That's why I want something regarding playing by ear. I saw this one site: www.playpianotoday.com/, but everything is too jazzy for me. I'm into classical / pseudo-classical style piano. I can't STAND jazz The site advertised on the right (Piano Secrets) apparently works for "POP - JAZZ - ROCK - SOUL - GOSPEL", exactly what I don't want. What I want to learn is this type of music: http://www.myspace.com/yiruma/music/songs?filter=featured (see "River Flows in You) http://grooveshark.com/#/album/Valley+Of+Vision/725744 (see "In the Valley") Please could you direct me to a good resource? Is it even necessary to purchase a package...are there free resources out there? Thanks,

Thanks for the advice http://www.pianomagic.com/ looks like a good site. Just a bit dissappointing that it's only a 12 month membership for such a steep price. David Nevue's & Ludovico Einaudi's music sounds pretty good too. Thanks for that If anyone else has any good links - keep em coming! Here's one I found: http://www.greghowlett.com/freechristianpianomusic.aspxGraham

The Kenneth Baker complete Piano Player books are good to learn if you are a beginner and have lots of useful information and gradually get you learning music in stages. A good site somebody recomended to me to print off free sheet music is: - http://www.wikifonia.org/ You can print off lots of different music and transpose it into different keys so really handy to use. You tube have some great videos too.

Hi,
I am a piano teacher with 15 private students. My students are often asking, if they can record parts of the lessons, so they can watch it again and practice at home. This gave me an idea to create an online piano course for beginners. It will be ready on the 1st of September. If you are interested, then the link is below in the signature.

Have you heard of Brian Crain? It seems that this is the type of music that you are looking for. I first learned about this composer's music while looking for his Butterfly Waltz which I heard somebody else play. At the time I purchased, besides the aforementioned piece, Early Light, Kindred Spirits, and a couple of other pieces. I believe that this is what you are looking for. Here is a link to his page: http://www.briancrain.com/sheetmusic.htmlOnce at the above website, scroll down to download a FREE sample of his sheet music (129 pages long). Also you may want to search for "Brian Crain" in YouTube to see his music performed, even by Crain himself. Another idea... iTunes has his music for purchase. I hope that this helps. Good luck to you.

Be careful about wanting to reach the top because once you are at the top, the only place left to go is down. Working on pieces by Albéniz, Granados, Joplin, et al.
