Have pointed out to a new member [souwestriver] that he/she has been shouting in all CAPS, and, would this be considered bad forum etiquette?

Well, not exactly, perhaps.

I have just pointed this out to the new member, although since they have not acknowledged my post as of yet, have no way of knowing if they are aware of it, or, if they even understand what "shouting" is. There are always a few who do not know what this actually means.

He only typed all caps in one post. He's mad his 8 month old DP is acting up. Also, he's Canadian. Maybe he watches too much Red Green.

I'm thinking about starting a new thread to inform the moderators about this thread...

pv, what exactly is your problem? I really don't understand. You made a response to that post there. Why an entire thread about another member? This (what you're doing here) is considered bad etiquette not only online but in the real world too. If that's how you live, that alright, I'm not going to report this thread to the mods. I do hope though you see the irony here.

Some people these days!

Point well made, as I admit this is no big deal, and we will need to wait to hear from the new member if what they wrote was deliberate (to vent a mood), or, something else.

I think you may be right, about the DP acting up, that is.

Questions @ liszt85:

I have recently heard some of your playing (in various YouTube videos) and you are apparently a very good pianist. Who were (or, are) your teachers?

Was wondering if you were going to tackle some other major works of Chopin, like the Sonata No. 3 in B-minor, Op. 58. Or, perhaps the Liszt Sonata?

Excuse my straightforwardness, but why would you make a new thread deliberately pointing out another member like this? I honestly don't see the point.

No, we don't need to wait to hear from anyone. You made your point in that thread. Move on. There's no reason to have so much consternation over someone typing in caps. Let it go.

Maybe I should open up a new thread complaining that people tend to create new threads without having a real topic. Or maybe I just ignore what's going on here. Ooops, too late... wink

It might be a good idea to send personal messages to people one finds offensive to maintain the cordial tone of the public threads.

How about that red exclamation point icon used for some forum topics? Does that make the entire thread marked in such a manner utter in too loud a voice?

All I can think of is an old episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" where Gomer Pyle runs around ticketing everybody for things like jaywalking and shouting "Citizen's arrest! Citizen's ARREYEST!"

Yes we are, but I don't appreciate that caps lock man. I'll make a thread about it.

I think that perhaps I should apologize for starting this thread, as I did not intend for nearly everyone at Piano World to chime in on it, I only wanted the new member to notice the breach of etiquette... no more, or less. Even so, haven't heard a word from the new member [souwestriver], as of yet. Guess there isn't much left to talk about, then.

Do appreciate everyone's input here, nonetheless!

Both of us (souwestriver & myself) have Casio AP-620's with a sustain pedal resonance issue that hasn't been verified by Casio. I suggested that he try to record the issue to the AP-620's recorder, then save that to a 2 GB (or smaller) SD memory card. The User's Guide doesn't tell you how to do this, and, I am not going to waste a lot of money on SD cards trying to figure out how to transfer the recording to the card, etc.

Good luck souwestriver, if you can do this!

PV88,

I guess I can thank you for providing us some light entertainment and a nice diversion from the conversational norms of these forums.

My advice to you is just to relax, sit back, and enjoy the 'online atmosphere' that this forum offers. Don't worry yourself too much about the adherence to 'etiquette' by others. It's a pretty well run forum so you don't need to be so concerned by such things.

Overall, this forum is actually very relaxed and as contentious as some discussions can get, I've found on the whole, that exceptional talent, wit, and generosity of members here is exemplary.

Enjoy!

To keep this thread running and completely off-topic, have a look at this post which at least has the term "shouting" in common with this thread... wink

http://ehealthforum.com/health/shouting-during-delivery-t248383-a1.html

So... are pregnant women allowed to use all caps during delivery?
