I am using Geniesoft's Scorewriter 4.1 for windows, and need help with "two-part writing" of the same note with different time values.
Attached is an example, wherein the half note is held throughout the playing of the remaining eighth notes.

But, how do I write this into Scorewriter?
For the life of me I cannot find it within the Scorewriter help nor by wading through the various drop-down menus and options.

Everytime I enter the half-note and then attempt to insert that 8th rest and following 8th-notes, Scorewriter dis-allows it since the time values in the measure don't add up to the 4/4 time signature.

Anyone using Scorewriter know how to write this into Scorewriter correctly?
I feel like it's in there, but I can't find it.

Uh... page 19 refers to adding staves.
Or, at least, that what I think what page 19 is trying to tell me.
Thanks for the .pdf guide, but after going through it I still cannot find an answer to my initial question.

I must be blind as a bat and continuing to miss it, because I cannot believe Scorewriter would not allow this function.

It's really on page 19. Page 19 of the PDF, that is (as displayed in the Acrobat Reader toolbar), not the printed page number 19 (which is page 26). Page 19 has the number 13. That's because Acrobat just counts all pages from 1 - 50 including the cover and table of contents (which have roman page numbering).
