Mrs R says " no problem" ( she has been a life long Leonard C fan!)

Tuna and hash, what an odd tea, is that your version of the Rossy "halibut slammer?"

Verse 1 has references to (King) David, who reputedly wrote many of the psalms, or songs, in the bible, including 146-150, known as the hallelujah psalms. I'm not sure why David was baffled.

Psalms 146-150 all start and end (in the Hebrew) with the the word Hallelujah! - see a pattern there?

Verse 2 seems to be about David and Bathsheba - walking on the roof - and then Samson and Delilah - the ties, the throne, the cut hair - so again biblical.

There are many different versions of the song, with different lyrics!

And apparently Burke never wanted to sing the song. It shows!

I'm with Rossy on the Cowell circus. I'd put Cowell in the same class as Andy Coulson: would f*** his grandmother for cash. Excuse my language.

Eglantine, cheers, looks like I'm gonna av to dig my bible out and have a look, lol as it happens, won't have to dig far, it's in my music room smile

Good Wednesday everyone! I'm afraid I don't have much time right now for postings. I have a busy day ahead. I do have one offereing for now, however. It's morning on this side of the Atlantic. Here is Nina Simone singing, "In the Morning."

Enjoy the rest of your day. I will check in later. I'm hoping to squeeze in a little time to post a few more.

It's quiet around here today! I have a few more offerings before I have to go on to my next assignment. Here are two amazing artists, John Lee Hooker and Carlos Santan doing "Chill Out."

Enjoy!

Hi everybody!.

Nice to see both of you, Griffin and Rossy. I hope you all are doing well.

Well, indeed this thread can’t be quiet. This post goes to other overlooked composer: Michael Haydn, the brother of the famous composer.

He made an extensive catalogue of works, for sacred and secular music. Among them, there is an amazing Requiem. Probably Mozart was inspired by this work when he wrote his Requiem.

Here we can listen to the first movement of this Requiem. The stage is unusual, but the interpretation is very good musically.

If someone is interested, the Requiem can be listened complete with this link:

Hi Recaredo. I'm looking forward to listening to your post when I get home. I rarely get to hear anything by Michael Haydn. Thanks. I hope you're doing well. Right now I'm trying not to get too frustrated with a piano piece I'm practicing. I'm probably going to take the night off from practicing that, and get into the holiday spirit with playing some Christmas music!

I'm getting ready to go home from work. I'll be checking in later, though I suspect it's very late on your side of the Atlantic! smile

Later

will post later on today Griffin, I caught caught up in the heat of achieving something that I just had to capture, which i did. !!! I thought I had come to a full stop, and then I got inspiration, which i am gratefull for. Mrs R does not like the new piece as much as the old so far, she is not a fan of tangerine dream. I suppose tangerine dream are an aquired taste for the uninitiated, but once you "get it" so to speak with tangerine dream, well, it just starts to make more than sense. many years ago, One particular piece inspired me to do something myself one day, and I have kicked the idea around my brain for ages.
They are the masters of their craft though, but most excellent craft it is, their musical pieces are like soundscapes, they take you on a journey and bring you back again.
I have so much to learn.
later dudes and dudetts.

Good morning everyone! Rossy, I happen to have Tangerine Dream on my shelf. I haven't listened to it in years. I'm thrilled that creative process is going strong for you. I understand why you've got to go with it now!

Recaredo, I LOVED the Requiem! I appreciate your sending the links for the rest of this beautiful work by Michael Haydn. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

This morning we received our first dusting of snow in Minneapolis, a reminder of the beginning of the holiday season. I will be posting a variety of holiday music throughout the month, along with my usual eclectic music postings. smile

Somehow it feels good for me to start off with this awesome array of recording artists who came together for one day many years ago under the direction of Quincy Jones to produce "We Are The World."The recording was made to raise funds for the victims of the draught in eastern Africa.

Here is a classical rendition of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus, then mixed with a "soulful celebration" led by Mervyn Warren, performed at the 1993 Grammys. Enjoy!

Now for a real change of pace. I had never heard of Shakti until my friend Louis posted this on his Facebook page. That's Louis, a man of impeccable taste! smile

Shakti was a group which played a novel acoustic fusion music which combined Indian music with elements of jazz; it was perhaps the earliest practitioner of the musical genre world fusion, according to my notes from Wikipedia.

Have a listen!
