Argerich @ Chopin Competition

I apologize if this has been shared already, but I haven't been around much.
Most of these have floated around the web for a while, but it's a nice compilation of the performances, including the Preludes which I hadn't heard before.

Enjoy

-Daniel

Argerich is god. Does anyone know what the state of her health is? I understood that she'd cancelled some performances recently...

Sounds like she's doing perfectly normal.

Yes and no. She cancelled her appearance at the Proms playing Beethoven's 'Triple'. Lot of angry people, not surprising, and glad I don't live in London anymore because I would have purchased a ticket to that. 'Land of Hope and Glory' will typically close the season -can't wait for that- and we will savour the moment wherein Elgar's music is more kinetic than Beethoven's.

Beethoven's 'Triple' is an odd masterpiece from Beethoven's workshop. The cello gets the biggest workout, Argerich could play the dull piano part in her sleep, and be done with it.

What does everyone think of Martha's Op 10 No 1?
This was the first performance of the piece that I ever heard (whatever happened to Audiogalaxy by the way?) and it set a very very high standard for the piece for me to this day.
Wikipedia used to carry a comment that I see has been removed: "One of her performances in [the 1965 Competition] was a defiantly confident reading of Chopin's Etude in C major (Op. 10, No. 1)"

Defiantly confident... Is there a difference between confident and defiantly confident?

Thanks, Daniel, for reminding me of this rather exciting moment wherein the goddess descends into the realm of mere mortals.

Horowitz and Rachmaninov, the greatest pianists since Liszt, would probably have a moment of... wth?

Talent like that is beyond my comprehension.
