Hi all,

I have posted a piano version of Barque sur l'Océan from Ravel (slightly improvized: as ear version) if you want to have a look:

Thanks for your impressions'

That was very nicely done. I think you produced a very effective feeling of the ocean.

Not related to the music, but you seem to sit very low at your keyboard. Elbows much lower than hands. Seems to work for you. Do you always sit that low?

Although your version is nice, it is based on a very small part of that piece that you repeat over and over. Also, by simplifying things so much you leave out much of the genius of the original. For example, in Ravel's version at the beginning there is a beautiful G# sounding.

Thanks for the comments! Otherwise, I did have a low chair but usually my chair is a bit higher (it did not bother me this time but perhaps I would not play always that low).

Regarding my simplification, I am aware of it and did take the part I enjoyed (and was able to transcript in my language by ear as well). I can understand that Ravel purists may prefer the original version that is unique.

Nice improv, you caught that all by ear?

Also, have you heard Andre Laplante's version?

OSK, thank you so much for uploading Lapante's sublime performance.

Thanks Orange Soda, I did catch it by ear (and listened to this piece many times to get the overall feeling) and did listen to Andre Laplante's version that is gorgeous.
