Shirley can be a little Jealous of mrs R at times.

Shirley Manson is so underated, She played the wonderfull emotionaless Katherine Weaver in "the sarah conner chronicles" proving that her acting abilities are on a par with her singing talent.

I prefer No. 1 crush by garbage. so here it is.

Wayne, if you have the sheet to the Cranberries, please can I have a copy?

Everywhere I looked for the sheet to no. 1 crush, it was like "forget it , it's just too complex!"

Anyone remember Magma? If anyone is fluent in Kobaïan maybe they can explain the lyrics to me.

This is what wicki says: Kobaïan is a lyrical language created by French drummer and composer Christian Vander for his progressive rock band Magma. It is the language of Kobaïa, a fictional planet invented by Vander and the setting for a musical "space opera" sung in Kobaïan by Magma on ten concept albums.

What I say does not matter. BUT, if it did, it would sound like this: "How the Hades did they get away with TEN concept albumns?"

And there was me in all innocence, not believing there was anything worse than Jazz!

This is really going to please the jazz buffs, because if you add a made up language to jazz, apparently you end up with something that makes "ordinary" jazz look good, the one thing I was hoping not to prove on my serious thread !!

A swift decoy needed, in the form of mr.Neil young . From the albumn "Rust never sleeps" and Thrasher.

"where the aimless blade of science chopped the pearly gates(in two)
It was then I knew I'd had enough, and burnt my credit card for fuel"

This example is excellent, because Neil Young F***s up real bad, and has to start a verse again, proving that even the great are not infalible!! Remember your own song Neil !!

That's interesting - I was considering putting up a link to an acoustic Neil Young track to follow up from the Joni. I would have picked Sugar Mountain.

I edited the text on the neil young because I forgot to put in about him making a reall big C*** up in the song and having to start a verse again!! (off or On day!)

I guess I just have a soft spot for anyone who would do anything as obsessively crazy as invent their own language for their music. I couldn't imagine Justin Bieber or Katie Perry doing that.

Your right Chris, its my problem, and I should not have even mentioned it!! After all the links I put to Dead can dance are another band that use "invented language" I apologise.
(Its just the J thing!) anyways, here is something I hope you agree is totally beautifull and calm for nightime...

Moody blues: "candle of life"

Haven't heard the Moody Blues in a while, that is indeed a beautiful piece of music. I think I recognize the location where the waterfall photo was taken, if I'm not mistaken that is at Logan pass in Glacier national patk.

Some parts of their music reminds me of the Ward Swingle Singers who sang Baroque music in a modern jazz style in the 1960s. The choral group I sang in had fun doing some of those numbers with a few jazz musicians.

Soothing (pushes Muse behind the cushion)...okay.

This is mine - and just to make it extra "classy", Mr Hayward's joined by the London Philharmonic and some Batty bloke who had something to do with furry things on Wimbledom Common...

Not the best quality vid, but you get the (hopefully soothing) idea.

I wondered when some one would bring Moody Blues up. Thanks Sly Cat and Rossy.

This will be my last post for the evening. Here's a lullaby sung by one of my favorite folk singers, Odetta. Enjoy!

I am not sure whether this counts as a reminiscence, its an old song with a awesome new twist. It's a nice foil to Griffin's great posting, but I don't recommend listening to this before bedtime. It's a good waker-uper though.

Hah! "Amadeus" brings back all sorts of memories.

The metallic twist is interesting, I think I like it. And fortunately, it is morning and I am wide awake.

SlyCat, wow, I was going to post that Justin Hayward, thanks so much, I love that. I also love loads of early Muse big time.

And to show that Mathew bellamy of Muse is quite capable, here is a video of him playing Chopin,Nocturne op9 no. no2.

Muse + chopin!!!

AND for the beautifull day ahead for everyone...Beautifull day by the levellers, a song about a beautifull day, does what it says on the tin!! "and nothing is impossible"
This video takes a few seconds before it starts, dont panic it is there!!

Hello,
For some reason I've been thinking about Chicago. No, not the city, the performers. It was one of the few groups I heard at the time in which brass instruments were used.

Enjoy!
