Hello all !
First, I would like to thank all of you guys. I've been reading these forums for the last 2 months, and I have found here tons of good advices for buying my first DP
I've been an amateur classical piano player for some time (around 20 years) but I have been forced to stop 6 years ago as I don't have enough space in my new appartment, even for an upright accoustic piano.
I had never been fond of DP but deciced to give it a try.
Here is what I got :
- A Kawai MP10 as DP (The keybed was the most important thing to me, and it's the best I ever tried.)
- Synthogy Ivory 2 Grand Pianos on my computer (The sound is just better than anything on any DP I tried)
- A pair of active monitor Yamaha HS80M connected on my computer sound card
- A sennheiser HD 650, also connected on my computer sound card
When using the Sennheiser, I have no problem at all. The sound is just perfect and I really love it.
The problem is when I want to use the active monitors. First I have a rather weird setup to connect it on my sound card where I just have a Jack output : I got a double mono jack male to single stereo jack male converter and use that + 2 jack extension cords to connect it to the computer. (As my computer is not in the same room)
The result is not satisfying : It's hard to describe but it just doesnt sound right, as if it was muffled. It's nowhere as clear as with the headphones.
So my question is quite simple : how would you setup the whole thing ? is there a way to connect the active monitors on the DP rather than on the comptuer but still get the sound from Ivory ? Or should I use something else to connect it to the computer ?
Thanks a lot for your help !
Edit: I should add that the reason why I think it's a setup issue rather than an issue with the monitors themselves is because if I plug them directly in my DP, thus hearing the original DP sound, the sound is then crystal clear, exactly the same as in the headphones
