Part I:

As some of you know, I'm the happy owner of a wonderful pre-war Blüthner grand. Although I am an adult beginner with meager skills and talent, I love playing piano. In fact, I can't pass a piano without feeling a powerful urge to sit down and play. So, needless to say, I find piano stores irresistible.

As a result, over the past year, I've played many different instruments, new and used, from Baldwins to Yamahas and everything in between. (The list includes, to the best of my memory: Baldwin, Bechstein, Bosendorfer, Boston, Essex, Estonia, Grotrian, Kawai, Mason & Hamlin, Petroff, Pleyel, Sauter, Schimmel, Steingraber, Steinway and Yamaha.) During this time, I wasn't (consciously) looking for another piano. However, as some on this forum can attest, occasionally an instrument speaks to us and we find ourselves reaching for the wallet when we never thought we would, should or could.

So, here is what my living room looked a while back.

But here is what it looked like the other night:

Yes, my beloved Blüthner is gone - fortunately, for now at least, she has merely taken up residence in my office.

But what could possibly replace my lovely rosewood Blüthner?

[NB: Originally the title of the thread did not reveal it would be a Bosie.]

Part II:

The living room did not stay vacant for long. The fine gentlemen of Fragile Freight found something wonderful on their truck.
