Kawai MP10 Dropping Notes

My Kawai MP10 is dropping notes in the following circumstance -playing a very simple left hand pattern with the Epiano Tine #2, and using an 8 swing fast shuffle rythmn at 113 bpm. The pattern is from Tim Richards "Improvising Blues Paino" Beginners Boogie. The pattern starts on the 2nd c below middle c and is all quarter notes: C, C (octave higher), E, C (octave higher), G, C (octave higher), E, C (octave higher). If I repeat this pattern some notes start not to sound. Can anyone else repeat this on their MP10?

Hello 3fingers, First, may I ask if you are using the latest (v1.03) software update for your MP10? This can be downloaded from the Kawai Europe and Kawai America websites, and there is more information available in this thread. If, after applying the update, the dropped notes still occur, it may be useful to post an MP3 recording (you can send me a private message with the URL if preferable). Finally, may I also ask you to confirm whether this issue occurs when the rhythm is not playing, or another rhythm is selected? As you note, the passage you are playing is rather simple, so I can see no reason why the instrument would be dropping notes in this way (e.g. you are not exceeding the 192 note max. polyphony specification, or playing many sustained complex chords etc.) Kind regards, James x

Hi James,
Thanks for your response. Yes the keyboard has the updated software. This problem only seems to occur with the EP tine #2 when using a rythmn pattern (I also get the note clipping on the country 2 beat rythmn) - it doesn't clip when using just the metronome. I don't get any clipping when using EP tine #1 or #3. I will try to post an MP3 recording when I get a chance.

James, I'm nearly 100% this likely has nothing to do with the polyphony, since the MP10 has 196 notes, which is substantially more than the RD-700NX, CP5, NP88, SV-1, etc., correct?
I also second the comments above about thanking you for your eagerness to help out around here. *high five*

By the way, when I say 'will be fixed...', I actually mean 'has already been fixed in the beta'. James, might it help if there was a list somewhere of known SW bugs? (Not that any other manufacturer does this in a proactive manner to my knowledge.) That way when people stumble across them they could look on the web to see if they are already known and possibly being addressed by a future SW revision. Might help to minimize the public bug report rants (negative advertising). Might also give KAWAI a centralized, systematic way of handling them. Just a thought.

The MP dev team already have a very systematic way of logging and fixing bugs, testing beta updates, and finally making the software available to users. My best guess is that currently they are working on an MP6 firmware update, before returning to the MP10 and CA93/CA63 (and other models)...

If I could have any other stage piano for gigging, without a doubt, I'd go for the MP6. I was so impressed with that little board. I think that's by far the best board in its class and offers the most bang for buck.
