I heard a recital by Bax a few years ago at the Mannes IKIF. I thought it was terrific. He played the same Bartok piece mentioned in the article in the OP. It is his own transcription of a Bartok non piano work.

It definitely was. I've never been overly passionate about Bartok's total output (I love the piano sonata, the etudes, the concerti, and several smaller works), but Bax convinced me that I need to seriously reassess this composer.
