I heard Scissor Sisters - Filthy/Gorgeous on the radio today, and thought it would be fun to play this, even if just for a laugh.

I had a quick look on the net and found the first page of a composition on musicnotes.com (I'm not gonna buy it, it took me about 20mins to figure the song out using this first page)

I'm curious though as to why the "b's" are flated, when it's written in Bb major, and there's even a neutralised A, (no previous A# or Ab) on the second to last measure, what's that all about?

I might interpret the B flat signs in the left hand as an overly aggressive case of courtesy or reminder accidentals. But I can't see any reason for the A natural sign except ignorance or carelessness.

Hi Wayne,

Just ignore the B flat accidentals, they are just warning accidentals. And I think the A's natural is misplaced and should be placed in front of the B and not behind it. I guess someone did a fast job.

Considering the Scissor Sisters have some good piano songs, that was a strange one to pick.

I doubt this because it would also make the natural sign apply to the same B on the second half of the third beat.

I think you're right, not very good is it, when being purchased from a proper company!

I do tend to learn songs that I hear and think "Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind playing that" And there being no covers on YT is an added bonus! My playlist is probabily a bit strange!

here it is;

First time ever I saw your face.
Say a little prayer.
Kylie - Can't get you outta my head.
Coldplay - Scientist
- Viva la vida
- Fix You
Portishead - Glorybox
Alicia Keyes - If i aint got you
Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
- Pokerface
- Paparazzi
- Telephone
Rihanna - Love the way you lie
- Only girl
- dont stop the music
- unfaithful
Radiohead - Creep
Britney - Toxic
Destiny's child - Bills, bills, bills
Leona Lewis - Run
Christina Aguilara - Hurt
Adele - Hometown Glory
- someone like you
- Make you feel my love
- Rolling in the deep
Edward Myre - stereo love
Blondie - heart of glass
Beyonce - me myself and I
- If I were a boy
Gwen stefani - what you waiting for
Duffy - Stepping stone
Katie Perry - I kissed a girl
Rod stewart - sailing
Home sweet home
Amazing grace (not played that for ages)
Gary Jules - mad world
Rob Dougan - clubbed to death
Daft punk - harder, better, faster, stronger
Bjork - Venus as a boy

(and a few more unfinished ones, maybe 20 or 30)

Eh no, I don't think so. Accidentals apply within the measure and octave in which they appear. That's why warning accidentals in the same measure are a bit confusing, because it would implicit the opposite.

I can tell you that the B before the A neutral is certainly Bb.

Wayne, that's really a long playlist. I'm impressed. Well, the A's natural has no any meaning then.

Wayne, I've got a few "unreleased" tunes under my belt and "Mad World" is one of them. I love playing that song. just be sure to give credit where due because that is originally a "tears for fears" song.

Also, I couldn't help notice your mentioning of Scissor Sisters. what a fun band. I love the tune "Take your mammma out" I remember seeing them on Jay Leno last year where the lead singer pretty much went zany-nuts the entire time...(in a good/fun way).
