Here is what I have learned of Moonlight Sonata Mvt. 1 so far. How are the dynamics to yall? I know I wanna work a little harder on them but I wanna get your honest opinion on them first.

look at the waveform. That should give you your answer. Not sure if you added compression or the program did it itself but there are no dynamics.

Program must have compressed the file itself. I didnt add anything. I dont know if having the audio mixed down from 32 bit to 16 bit would play a role in that?

Have you LISTENED to it? There's plenty of dynamics!

This is a VERY hard piece to play effectively, requiring perfect control. As you listen carefully to your performance, it will help you improve even more! The piano sounds good.

Folks this is the Composer's Forum. Please post these recordings in the Member's Recordings section. If you didn't write it then it belongs somewhere else. I didn't listen to this one and won't listen to anymore pieces posted here that were not written by living composers.

Oh, go on Steve! Even if it's in the wrong place - listen to it! It takes no longer than being Forum Policeman, and it's almost as much fun :-)

OK, I listened. I agree with Bad Orange. It's recorded pretty hot for what's supposed to be pianissimo. I also think that lesser sound modules or software or virtual instruments don't have as much inherent dynamics to them, or it could be the performance. All I know is starting about 15 seconds in it should decresendo so you can build up to the main theme. That doesn't happen and because it's recorded hot there isn't room to add much in dynamics.

Post it in member recordings and you'll probably get the same response.
