A local dealer is offering a rebuilt S&S model O that I might be interested in. I haven't looked at it yet but am curious about one thing in the ad: it says, in Swedish, "Nytt hammarlag och spelarrullar från Abel". I guess this has to do with the mechanics, "hammarlag" is probably related to the hammers, but what could "spelarrullar" (lit: "play rolls"") mean and what kind of company is "Abel"?

Probably means, "with hammers by Abel." Abel is a German company (Frankenhardt) that makes very fine piano hammers in different grades for different pianos/reasons,

Is this an older reproducing piano? One that plays itself using paper rolls? If it is you need to know that the casework and keys are longer than those of a normal Model O. The extra length was to accomodate the mechanical reproducing mechanism.

I would wager to guess that the meaning was that the hammers and knuckles (British English: rollers) were made by Abel.
