Hey guys,

Here's a little 12 bar blues piece I have not only learned, but also have a pretty good comfort level with. I would love some constructive criticism on it. I think my technique (wrist position) is not quite right, maybe?

Thanks!

I'm by far no experienced player...but as my "instructor" friend asked me when I was playing in a similar fashion..."what's wrong with those three fingers on your left hand that you aren't using?"

It looks as if you could play the main 12 bar beat with just the left hand and then use the right for the short riff you played.

Again...I've only been playing for a short while so take it with a grain of salt.

Cool song though!

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but my piano teacher knew that would be easier for me so she made me do it the hard way ;-)

Hi,

As someone who really likes (okay, loves... laugh )boogie-woogie, I say you are doing great!

I have one suggestion... learn to play that exact same tune with just your left hand. Then, you'll have your right hand to play more melody and blues licks and so forth!

Keep it up!

All the best!

Rick

Just curious, but what did the score say? I've run into scores where, in theory, I could've used one hand only, but the composer composed it for 2.

Anyway, you're doing great! smile

Two Hands Boogie, from Celebrated Jazzy Solos. It's like a beginners book illustrating various blues and jazz forms.

I should be able to get them all by years end I think.

Smildon, just outta interest, what are the old coins on your piano? I have a "half penny" on mine, dated 1917 (around the same time of the making of my piano)

Oh they are just five old quarters from the forties I bought at a flea market. My teacher has me practice new things in sets of 5, so I move a quarter over each time I practice something. The less I have to think about the more I can focus on the important things.

And I think they look kind of cool too...

I can't see what flea's would do with old quarters, maybe that's why they were selling them, glad you found a good use for them (sorry, i'm just being silly now) smile

Man, you should see them set up shop in the morning - A flea can carry a coin 100 times it's own body weight all the way to market!

It's just her majesty's paper weight, she has alot of paperwork and needs something very heavy to make sure it doesn't blow off her desk. She has a cupboard full of these!

I bet that's why she has to be treated regularly with "Bob Martin's Flea and tick drops" (Just incase)
