I am curious to see if anyone can give me a rough estimate price for selling a 1987 Kawai KG-2E (Walnut) in great condition.

Great condition means different things to different people. Probably between 5-12k.

Thanks for your post! The only discrepancy I find is the frame has some small nicks that can only be seen up close. No chips in the keys and nothing affected on the inside.
I have heard I can get $8k-$12k. So it sounds like this is accurate? Can anyone else verify?
Thanks!

$12k sounds like a pipe dream to me, considering the many korean and chinese grand pianos available new for that price or less with a factory warranty. You're also competing with refurbished grey-market instruments at that price, as well as other used US-market asian pianos sold by dealers and private individuals. The low end of your range may be more in line with reality, depending on where you live and the condition of the "guts" of the instrument (in addition to cosmetics). "Nothing affected on the inside" doesn't tell me the amount of wear on the action, hammers, state of regulation, or if there are cracks in the bridges, soundboard, or pinblock.
Try searching this site's classifieds, pianomart, craigslist, local piano stores, etc. to get an idea of what may be a realistic price for your area. It also helps a non-beginner buyer if the instrument has been tuned/serviced within the last 6 months, so the tone can be evaluated fairly. There is also a rough depreciation schedule on pianobuyer.com, though the KG-2 is no longer a current Kawai model. Its replacement is the RX-2.

I'm by no means an expert, but if you can get $8K to $12K, that would be fantastic... unfortunately, I'm thinking those prices are unrealistic unless you are a dealer and can offer, moving, tuning, and a limited warranty.
Based on your description, I’d say $6K to $8K would be more in line with reality; but you never know until you put it out there and see what kind of response you get.
Good luck!
Rick

I agree that 12k sounds like a "pipe dream" but some people do ask for, and get ridiculous prices for their pianos. There are a few considerably older KGs on eBay in this price range.

There are a few considerably older KGs on eBay in this price range. This may be true, but have you checked to see if they have sold at that price? I’ve noticed that few used pianos priced rather high rarely, if ever, sell on eBay. Usually, it seems to me, that most pianos sold on eBay are “best offer” type auctions. However, I hope the OP gets a very good price for his Kawai. Rick
