The YDP141 has what Yamaha calles their "GHS" key action. It's not their best. Maybe a step up from the maudio but a small step. for the price of a YDP141 (about $1,000) yo can buy a Yamaha P155 which has their much better"GH" key action and better user interface that uses labeled buttons. The Yamaha CP33 has the same GH keys and sells for the same price but the P155 is best for use as a home practice piano the CP33 is better on stage.

I think the #1 feature to look at is the feel of the key action. If your budget isabout $1K the P155 is a good option. With more money then you can look at Roland's FP7F and Kawai If

If you really think the keys on the ydp141 are good enough then check out the Casio PX130. If costs 1/2 the price of the 141 but has, I think better key action.

Both the Casio px130 and P155 have matching stands that you can buy. The stands are a little overpriced but are still worth getting as the fit is perfect

cool thanks for the advice. yea the p55 is nice. and i like yamaha. i think casios are cheap and not as good as yamaha. just my opinion. and the one 141 has the bench stand pedals all included. cheapest route i can go with everything included. by the time i buy i stand and bench it averages out to the same. im getting a good deal on it for around 850 i believe but i hear what your saying about the keys.

The better key action is worth the price. The GHS action in the YDP141 is surely a big step up from a toy piano, but it's still not very good. Really not very good.

If you possibly can, spring for a piano with the GH action, either a P155 keyboard or a YDP161 console.

wats the difference between ghs and gh? i thought that was a nice piano for 850 bucks and yamaha is like standard top of the line today. also it comes with the stand bench all in one and it has room on the top to put my laptop and such.

GHS vs. GH ... Try both and you'll feel the difference.

As far as "yamaha is like standard top of the line today" ...

Toyota makes the Corolla. They also make the Lexus. They sell at many price points. One of them will suit just about anyone.

Likewise Yamaha (and all the other) piano brands. They make good, and they make mediocre.

good point. but I'm trying to keep it under a 1000 dollars. also if i buy just a keyboard by the time i buy a stand and bench and all that it will come close to what i can get the 141 for. although it is kind of bulky for my small apartment keyboard stands don't seem to sturdy. also, id have the room on top like i was saying to put my laptop almost like i have a desk now with my midi controller on it.
