I ran across a Wurly 270 butterfly electric piano today - some notes amplify, others don't, lots of crackling while playing. Vibrato works. The action needs adjusting. Reeds sounded ok, but probably needs tuning. Cabinet is in good condition. The lady paid $50 for it and wants to know what the value would be in repaired condition. I did an internet search, and came up with $1000-$1500. Any other opinions on value if repaired?

I can't comment on the value, but the crackling MAY just be dust collecting in the small gap between the reeds and the harp. I have a similar model that also had crackling, and I was able to fix it by removing the dust.
Greg.

The only thing I know about value is related to the EP200A, which seems to have become very collectible. In excellent condition, with all original parts, the 200A may indeed be worth in the 1k to 1.5k region. However, the 270 is not a stage piano, with that genre of instrument's "mystique" and association with certain bands and sounds of yesteryear. I would suspect therefore that it's very difficult to place a value on the "butterfly" model. It may be one of those instances where it's worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.

Thanks for that tip, Greg. I may end up bringing this to the shop for repair!
