A heads up PSA for those interested. Coming up for auction in the Richmond Va. area is a core Steinway D in a Rosewood Rococo Revival Case. You can see it here http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/9842742# . The serial # is 35159. The only reason I mention this is because not too long ago I was at an auction where an antique 7' Rosewood piano core was sold off to a gentleman who just wanted the wood. That would be a shame for this long forgotten beast.

I thought it looked a bit odd, I wonder who set it up like that, the movers or auctioneers. Still an unique item. The estimated sales price is $2.5 - 5K . I wonder how much it will sell for, but I imagine it will go well beyond that.

The Steinway is up on the block in another few hours, there are already 5 bids and it should be an intersting bidding war. Any idea what the final price might be? $10,000? I'm thinking it could be close to $15K . I mentioned to the auction house that the legs were on backwards, no reply. Another interesting piano to come up soon is this 7' John Broadwood "Boudoir Grand" Piano It could be the most beautiful piano I have ever seen. If not the Marquetry is. I can't imagine the man hours it took to do this, incredible.

Not in the market - just curious - is there a way to see what the current bid on it is? All I see is "starting bid" and "estimate", and that there are 5 other bids...

They are all hidden at this time, we wont know until the "live" auction starts. So right now interested parties can either put in an "absentee" bid (those other 5 bids) or wait and bid live online. I'm not bidding on this one, but I have on other pianos. Hammer price 7K only 2 bids, final price 8.4K (+buyers fee). I guess there is not a real market for these or it was a total wreck.
