Good evening, afternoon or morning, wherever you are smile .

This post goes to “ancient” Spanish Pop-rock. This song was released in 1966 (I wasn’t born yet grin ), getting a great success. This success was not only in Spain, maybe due the song is sung in English.

I hope you like it.

Cheers Wayne! I loved your post about Camille and Kennerly, playing the Lady Gaga’s song. I didn’t know them. They are really good harpists, and that version was amazing!

Hi Recaredo and Wayne,
I do remember this from my college days! I didn't know it came from Spain. That means I knew a little more about Spanish pop music than I thought I did! grin

Nice post! I am at work, and was just getting ready to finish up for the day. I'm glad I checked in on the post.

Greetings to you Wayne! Hope all is going well.

Dudes and Dudettes, you may find this funny.... my lad looked over my shoulder and when he saw the words "adult beginers forums" he said: "is that some sort of sex site?" I admitted it may sound like it but most certainly isn.t!!!

Anyways onto a Rhianna escapade: Mrs R has worked very very hard and here is the result.
Let me explain.

when "umbrella" was released in the Uk and we kept seeing it on TV, there was no annoying rapper called jayZ on the video.

So, I went to youtube to get it and post it here.
Imagine my surprise and annoyance when every youtube video had the annoying rapper jayz on the umbrella video, I didnt understand it.

So I tried searching "Umbrella without jayz" and yes there are results but no videos just still pictures to go with the song....

So, more research and we found out that in the USA this is what they got: Rhianna AND annoying rapper jayz, but here in the UK we got just Rhianna.

So why no UK versions on youtube?

Mrs R set to work, She downloaded an Mp3 of Rhianna singing Umbrella solo, then downloaded the best quality video she could find, this had jayz in it.

Then she got rid of the sound on that video,
She "snipped out all images of Jayz"

And patched in bits of Rhianna painted silver to make up the deficit in length.

Then she magically synced the mp3 with the video so the sound would be lip synced with Rhianna singing....

And that, is the clever bit, Mrs R got it perfect, you just cannot tell... even films get this wrong, how many badly lip synced films have you seen?

Full marks to Mrs R for this... and the result, well judge for yourselfs, no annoying rapper....

Rhianna and "Umbrella" without jayz!! yes! Just for you dudes and dudettes with this link, you wont find it on youtube by searching!!!!

Hi Aimee! I was just getting ready for bed, and saw your post. I gave a preliminary try of going directly to YouTube and searching for this on my own. It looks like it might work for you. I'm not completely sure. I didn't complete the search because I'm ready for bed. However, you might give it a try.

I must get to bed right now. It's going to be a busy day on Wednesday!

Good night!

Good morning everyone! Rossy, I'll be checking out your link later. It's never certain what I'll be able to see via the iPad. In the meantime, it's time to hear from the Queen of Soul. Here is Aretha Franklin singing "Ain't No Way.".

Good one Wayne, you know, most folk in this country wil recognise that piece of music, they may not know what it is called, but their brain will go: "oooh, thats from, thats from, er them films, er the good ones with Robert Carlisle!"
Odd thing is once you have heard it, you only need to hear a snippet of it in something else and you recognise it...

The sad thing is there isn't more of it... But, its easy to make more for yourself..
For instance, try taking the right hands Dminors 1st inversion (f,a,d) and then moving that a up to a b flat (f,bflat ,d) that makes a bflat inversion...then, try just shifting that f to a g above (g, bflat d) and you have gminor, which slips to a major (a,c#,e) (see how the c# that is the "jist" of the original is coming back into play? then you can easy slip back to Dminor from the A major. something to play around with maybe to bulk it out?
Have fun..
Amajor to Dminor tension resolve is pleasent.

Thats what I've bin doin' Rossy, playin' with it, I was looking for something easy, just to play about with using the skills at my level, I downloaded heaps of simple bach pieces to try, but non took my fancy, then behold, I came accross that vid on facebook, and found exactly what I wanted, cheers to you for identifying it, I'm gonna work on this a bit, and see what I come up with, that's music for you, I'm not that bothered about playing something exactly as it should be, I prefer to know the basics and develope my own version!

I'm slightly pre-occupied at the mo, my other half is testing out w8, hated it at first, but slowly, slowly comming 'round to it, smile

Morning PPP , I for one didn't know that Christopher walken could sing, are you sure ?
If so, could you give us an example? I know its early in the morning for sarcasm, but the man attempting singing in the above video, sure doesn't look to comfortable in his skin.
Rossys early morning verdict: "Dont give up your day job Christopher"

Talking of such things; "Why oh why are all comedians frustrated singers?"
You just watch, every single so called comedian, will at some point in their career, start to think the public wants to hear them sing, and will oblige this mistaken belief.

Maybe the illuminati tells them too.

Talking of such things, have any of you dudes and dudettes read any of the online articles (of which there are many) concerning Rihanna, Christine aguilliaria, Lady gaga, and their involvement with the illuminati?

I jest not, there is a serious amount of stuff that conspiracy theorists are putting forward after having noticed a rather large amount of illuminati symbolism in lady gaga's videos, including the way she makes her hand into a small circle and looks through it with one eye..."the eye" as seen on dollar bills etc.

They are even calling Rihanna the "Illuminati princess" or "princess of the illuminati"

While this may seem far fetched, having studied a couple of the videos in minute detail, there is without doubt much illuminati/masonic symbolism used.

Just so the illuminati dont try bothering Rossy, I have this to say: "I wish the Royal couple William and Kate all the best, furthermore I wish that their first born is strong and healthy enough to eat the rest of the brood, no matter how many eggs hatch"

There I should be safe now.

Here is an example of an exceptionally fine comedian from the mid seventies, Mike reid... a lot of you may remember him from a lot later on as Frank butcher in east enders, when he was not being funny...

However, there is not a lot I could post here because he was very blue, BUT here is a quick 30 seconds of extreme funnyness....

You can find more on youtube, i would suggest the "donkey joke"

And then he decided to treat us to singing....

Morning folks! Fun posts Rossy! PPP, I'll be viewing your post in a bit. Wayne, I enjoyed your post. I hope you're having fun learning it!

I woke up this morning in the mood to hear Cowboy Junkies. The best video I could find of "Sweet Jane" was a live performance in Japan. There is a very brief introductory conversation before they perform.

Hi folks.

Today is holiday in my city. I’ve spent many hours practicing piano and I’ve used the pedal for first time. It has been a complete disaster; even I’ve thought that was out of my depth. I’ve remembered my old violin. I don’t know why, as I was rather mediocre playing it. But at least, I’ve felt the need to post about this instrument smile .

This is absolutely amazing:

I love Julia Fischer.

Absolutely fabulous Recaredo! I just stopped to take a break at work and saw your post. Thanks. I hope you had a nice holiday.

BTW, don't be discouraged by the pedal problem. The first time is always the worst. it will get better.

evening all, hope everyone's well!

Rossy, love Lady G - Telephone, I play this from time to time on the piano, quiet well if I do say so myself!

As for the illuminati, I can see how people come up with these conclusions, if you read the book of revelations! This subject is a bit too deep for me to get into right now, I'm a bit tired lol, (been working then near enough straight to the brother in-laws to help with their lappy, not been back long) n waiting for pizza delivery! Can't be arsed to cook!

I'll be sticking around for a little while smile

Hya dudes and dudetts.....
Interesting choice Griffin, Sweet jane was of course released in 1970 on the Velvet Undergrounds "loaded" albumn, However, they had recorded sweet jane back in 1969 but that version was only released in 1974....
Meanwhile, in 1972 with the help of Bowie, Mott the hoople released their stunning rendition of Sweet jane, thunderous and powerfull, this came from the albumn "All the young dudes" produced as I said, by Bowie.

This took sweet Jane to more of the masses, as it wasn't just released in England but in the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Canada and the USA.

Here is a point of note: Mrs R, after only ever hearing the Mott the Hopple version was subjected one day to the Velvet underground version, upon which she stated "whats wrong with that?"

I said "what do you mean?"
She said "Its going slow and sounds all wrong"

She thought there was a problem with the cd player!!

I told her it was the velvet underground version and she was surprised!

Another point of note: The cowboy junkies version you posted is missing the first verse!!!

I dont know if this is deliberate and they allways miss the first verse, but they certainly dont sing it...

The song starts "Standing on a corner, suitcase in my hand"

Anyways, Mick Ronsons Guitar work on the Hooples version shows just why they made it their own, stunning in its apparent simplicity, yet totally complementing the song like he is playing harmonies with his guitar, this is extremely well crafted, I hope you agree, for me, after hearing many versions of sweet jane AND being a dedicated Velvet underground fan, I love Hooples version the best..

Here is the thunderous and well crafted Mott the hoople version, followed by the Velvet underground version for comparison... And then for a final treat Mott the hooples self explanetry song "Saturday gigs"

The much slower velvet U version:

Griffin, see how "Saturday Gigs" ties in even to the "doo bop" thing?

Great stuff, everybody!

The Velvet Underground version wouldn't play embedded, so I went to youtube and read the comments as I listened. Most people on there seem to think its Dylan. It's clearly Reed. That makes me crazy! How can you not tell?!?

Ok so my Me First and the Gimme Gimmes came out with their Sing in Japanese EP the other day. It's pretty good, considering they don't know Japanese.

Here is "Hero." It's been stuck in my head.
