A yamaha G2, SN 4643645, should be year 1988.
The owner agreed to sell $5400.
The condition is fine, not played too much.
Is this a good deal? Thanks.

Yes, it is a good deal if it is in good condition. Do you like it?

Here is the ad link. If it is a good deal, I like it.

Someone says it is old since it was manufactured in 1988. It does not play too much. So I wonder how long a Yamaha piano lasts if taken good care of.

Thanks.

1988 isn't that old. yamaha pianos stand up especially well to heavy continuous use. I'd think it is a very good deal. And any piano will last a while if taken care of.

I'm no expert, but I'm thinking that is a very good deal on that piano... I've seen 1970's models Yamaha G2, and 3's advertized for that price.

Good luck!

Rick

Did you actually inspect and play this piano yet, or are we just dealing with a hypothetical piano?

So long as it wasn't subjected to intense use and bad environmental conditions, it should provide good service for the next 20 years, provided you continue to invest in proper maintenance on a regular basis.

Only a piano tech or a qualified inspector could answer that question. All we can do is speculate based on the information you have provided.

But, if the piano is in as good a condition as represented, then yes. Besides, we can only live (and play the piano) one day at a time... 20 years is a long way down the road. laugh

Yamaha G2's are lovely pianos. Mine was built in 1977. I paid a little more for it than what you were quoted. It was in excellent condition. I had it restrung, had the action regulated, hammers voiced and damper felts replaced. It has a wonderful touch and tone and a long sustain. It really sings. And as the strings are gradually breaking in the sound is getting more full and rich. I LOVE THIS PIANO!
