Finally close.

I've been going at this since like ... March... I've paid down and refinanced my car (I paid up to June 2012 before refinancing!), reduced my insurance expenses, I've got plenty in my retirement accounts, I bike to work every day... I might sell my car ...

I'm sure I can get the damn thing delivered ... carried into my apartment even, for under $4000. Then it's a matter of learning how to play ... never got that great because I never had my own piano to practice on, so playing is a matter of going to a piano several miles away to practice.

It's only $4000 ... I'll have it in a few months, but I want to keep a good cash basis. Planning on making some major purchases in March ... I should have a good $6k-$10k on hand by then.

I should buy a book. I'll have to refresh my base ... scales and cords, simple songs, finger independence, teach myself to sight read for real. I still have left-right independence--it took ages to develop that! I'm surprised it sticks!

Kawaii CA-93 and a Trek Portland... March 2012 ... So close, but so far.

Nice bike!

Do Trek still make the Portland?

Nice Bike bluefoxicy!

I have the Trek Carbon 5000 and it is a real nice ride. I think you will like your 93 when it arrives. It has the same sounds and action as my MP-10 and I really like mine!

March will be here before you know it!

Yes Trek still makes the Portland. It's one of their best bikes. I currently have a GT Tachyon 3.0... and a lot of wool stuff to order in the queue as the temperatures drop, not to mention some Schwalbe Marathon Winter tires.

My parents think I'm crazy for not buying a $1000 cheap acoustic upright (I'd want a Royal or Kawaii K-2 at $3000-$4000) or a plastic keyboard. But they also think I'm nuts for biking to work instead of driving (it's 5 minutes faster to drive, but ridiculously more expensive when you really look at it). I'm strange I guess ... living in Baltimore and looking to put a 9x9 tatami set in my room and a Shikibuton and Kotatsu... when I hit 1 dan I'll buy a $1700 Go set with slate and shell stones and a proper floor board... etc.

Ah well, who cares? After a year of looking, I'm not at the planning-to-buy stage. Not hoping, not trying to save money for ... I'm actually in full control here.
