This is my first message on this website, so if I'm in the wrong place, please bear with me. I am trying to find someone who could transcribe a recording for me....this is ragtime/stride piano music and will require someone with some experience to do the job right. This is not Chopin/Liszt calibre music, but I don't think it will be a quick, easy project. I am an amateur pianist, trained classically...... I have talked with the composer/performer of this piece of music...it has not been published/transcribed, and any transcription I commission would be stricly for my personal use and enjoyment. If you would be interested in the project, or know of someone who might be, please e-mail and we'll discuss this in further detail. Thanks....Marc Morrison

Could you post a small snippet of the recording in order to hear how difficult it may be? And I'm assuming this is a paid gig, right?

More than a snippet...the whole enchillada!! Yes, it would be my $$$, and once again, for my personal use/enjoyment. I have no delusions that this may be a difficult piece to transcribe.

An easy solution would be to ask Mr Holland to play it on a digital piano and send you the Midi of it. Then print the Midi out from Garageband. I have done this with hundreds of stride Midis off the internet and it works very well, perhaps with minor fiddling, because of the regular rhythm of the idiom. It would give you all the notes anyway, which is the hard part.

Good to see you back on the forum Ted. I've enjoyed reading many of your postings and listening to your piano improvisation.

That's quite the piece - just took a listen. Are you wanting to play this Marc?

Thank you Dara, you're too kind. I've actually never been off the forum but have just reduced my time at the computer generally. Since I retired in 2008 I have gone more or less berserk with my piano music, working very hard at it, especially improvisation, of which I have now recorded almost eighty CDs in three years. I didn't know anyone liked it that much so I haven't posted it very often. I'll post a couple of recent ones tomorrow.

truepianotranscriptions has declined this project, SO, I'm still looking for someone. I am not that well acquainted with Mr. Holland to suggest/expect him to make a digital recording of this piece for my use in creating a transcription...he has not responded to my request for a leadsheet from several weeks ago. YES, if I can get an accurate transcription made of this piece, I'd like to play it myself. Marc
