I have an Acrosonic piano (#663289)--made by Baldwin--and would love to know when it was manufactured. Other names inside are Sonustone, Akros Supreme, Acrosonic Supreme Tone. Also, does anyone know if it is true that it doesn't pay to tune this anymore--that the mechanism is unlike German/Russian etc. and is therefore considered poor and outdated??? Where I live (not USA) German/Russian/French/Japanese pianos are much more prevalent--and people make faces at mine (our piano teacher and tuner in particular).

Is the piano a spinet? That would get people to make faces on any continent. EDIT: Regardless of its size, it was made in 1959. SEE: http://www.bluebookofpianos.com/pianoage.htm#ACROSONIC

Thanks--I finally found that site too. Amazing what's on the Web! Oh, and thanks for making fun of my childhood piano. It stays, for sentimental reasons. But promised my son a German if he practices ;-)

I grew up learning on an Acrosonic. If you have to have a spinet, that's the one to have!
As for "worth it to tune it", if it plays well and sounds good to you, then why would it not be worth tuning? If you don't like it and/or just want to upgrade to something newer and better, then you most certainly should do so. But if the piano works for you, it'll work better in tune!

Thanks Larry for the kind words--I think I feel better now! By tuning, the problem is that no one where I live can deal with the regulation. I tuned the strings today and it is indeed better (but not as deep/rich as my previous "Red October" Russian)--but my tuning guy claims it doesn't pay to open it up to deal with the regulation. And he seemed not to know what to do even...

I was not knockin spinets. They serve the purpose well and if I should ever need one, it will be a Acrosonic.
