RX-6 arrives!!

The long wait for delivery finally ended last night when the movers delivered my new RX6! Awesome piano so far, and quite a step up from my RX2. To me, the action feels lighter and more responsive than the RX2, which is one important thing I was looking for. Overall, the tone is different (in a good way), but most noticeable is the bass--very deep and rich. Quick question for those who've played this model... Is it typical for the treble to be brighter compared to the rest of the piano? It's hard to explain, but the tone of the piano is warm & mellow up to around G5, and then from there on up, it sounds fairly bright to me. I guess you could say it's sparkling. It's definitely different than my RX2, so maybe I'm just not used to it. Maybe it could just use a touch of voicing in that area? Anyway, here are a few pics

Congratulations! One of the best pianos I've EVER played was an RX6 in a small theatre in Pulawy, Poland. It was prepped and tuned to perfection and I'll never forget that piano.

Congratulations on your "move up"! It is quite a step. I thought you might be from Denver when I first noticed you user name. Quick question for those who've played this model... Is it typical for the treble to be brighter compared to the rest of the piano? It's hard to explain, but the tone of the piano is warm & mellow up to around G5, and then from there on up, it sounds fairly bright to me. I guess you could say it's sparkling. A piano of this size will definitely have more volume as well as sustain in the upper treble. I would give it some time and then voice if it still seems to be too bright. You might try recording something and see if it seems too bright in the recording. Enjoy! PS, I just noticed it is a Blak... double ditto on the move up

Thanks all! Just got done playing for a while. Should probably take a rest, but here I am typing, lol. Oh well, it should help build finger strength, haha. A piano of this size will definitely have move volume as well as sustain in the upper treble. I would give it some time and then voice if it still seems to be too bright. You might try recording something and see if it seems too bright in the recording. Enjoy! PS, I just noticed it is a Blak... double ditto on the move up Thanks for the input. Yeah, I think it might just be that I'm so used to the treble on the RX2, it'll probably take a bit of getting used to the sound & feel of this. Just did a quick recording and I think it sounds really nice (not overly bright). P.S. I used to fly planes at Ohio U, so that's where the name came from

Congratulations! All it needs now is a bit of dusting ha! (well, and lot's of playing too!) Any ideas on how to get the dust in those impossible places on a grand? Leafblower, air compressor??

These are wonderful pianos. Congrats and I agree - just play and play for some time... take notes on what you'd like voiced, and make the changes only then. You may grow to like the way it is now. Great job!

Hi Eric, It's a wonderful piano and congratulations! I think you are wise to hold off voicing until you give your new piano a chance to settle in. Keep on playing it and it will keep on improving with more power and richness as the hammers harden and the wood and wire sing more freely.
All the very best!
Robert.

Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone! Here is a quick little recording I made. It's just the intro to an Evanescence song called Good Enough. http://wikisend.com/download/217534/Ev clip.mp3 I just set my recorder next to the music rack (on the bass side) so it probably came out a tad bass heavy. Anyway, at least you have a bit of sound to go with the pics

When AJF praises a piano like that, it carries some weight. The RX6 is an excellent instrument; I'm sure you'll be happy for many years to come. Thanks for sharing the pictures!

A beautiful instrument, milehigh. My only slight regret about my RX-5 is that I didn't get one a little longer. All my congratulations to you.
