Looks like another layered synth/piano sample program?

Looks like a new virtual instrument that lets you control a lot of parameters about how the samples get used and mixed together.

I think Galaxy must see that the days of a purely sampled piano are numbered. A while back I tried to simple experiments using Logic where I got two virtual pianos and played them both at once. It worked OK. I think this new product lets you do something like that but in a more sophisticated way. The controls look a little bit like a mixer.

They need to update their web page as it says it will be available in July 2011.

Hey everyone,

thanks for bringing up the Galaxy X here at pianoworld. It’s our newest development and the first virtual instrument that is not a sampled piano (doesn't mean that we'll go a completely new route from now on). Let me give a quick overview of the Galaxy X:

• Galaxy X is a virtual instrument using FX Convolution (new synthesis form for an exciting kind of sound design)
• Three individual instrument types are included: X-Keys, X-FX and X-Loops (also sold separately as downloads)
• Intuitive user interface for easy editing and complex sound design
• 15GB of Source Sounds and over 1400 Convolution X-Files that alter the sound of the sources
• More than 1000 ready-to-play Instrument Layers (instant presets)
• Easy dynamic use of convolution using the Mod Wheel
• To be used for Score Music and all kinds of sound design (tv, film, games,…), as well as all modern styles of music production (electronic music, progressive, pop,…)

We have the first few audio-demos on our website and there's a video trailer too. Have a look and listen:
Galaxy X

The development took us over three years since we had to overcome some problems and the content is pretty massive (over 15GB is not easy to sample). That's why we had to move the release date quite a few times.

Feel free to ask me anything you’d like to know about the X.

Cheers,
Stephan

Hey all,

We are happy to announce, that the Galaxy X demo-version is finally available for download. You can get it from "Sounds on Demand" under the following link:
Galaxy X Free

So jump on it and get your hands dirty;)

But that's not all: The first Galaxy X tutorial is online.
So if you would like to get an introduction before using the instrument (as recommended) have a look over here:
Galaxy X Introduction

If you want to go further into detail, have a look at our "Sources" tutorial. It explains X's signalflow and the process of designing your own instrument layers in detail:
Galaxy X Sources

Let what know what you think and feel free to ask any further questions.

Cheers,
Stephan
