Novelty songs, or novelty piano pieces? Cole Porter wrote the former, Zez Confrey the latter, just to name two composers from Peru. (Different states, though!)

I find it a fascinating genre, although it has mostly disappeared. I think Hiromi comes the closest to being a novelty pianist today.

That was quite fast and sort of jazzy.....I actually have quite a few pieces I consider novelty and was hoping to get ideas from others' experiences. I'll name one I consider a novelty or unique...it's called 'Scratch my Bach' by Peter Nero....

The entire Oeuvre of Tom Lehrer is on my play-list. If you'd like the sheet music, get "Too Many Songs by Tom Lehrer" Or just go here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/21011329/Too-Many-Songs-by-Tom-Lehrer

Tom Lehrer wrote novelty songs, not novelty piano pieces.

I like her and been to her concert once, very interesting and dynamic music. Not sure what kinda a genre is it, kinda mix of classical and rock smile

Genres in music are so fuzzy! I went to two concerts a few days ago. One was mostly classical, and the other, at the local jazz festival, had music that was even older, dating from the 12th century.
