How much to ask for Starck spinet?

Proud mom here, needing advice on selling my son's old spinet. My conservatory-grad youngest is now 30 and composing movie music on the west coast. He no longer needs the Starck spinet we bought used for him, here in Chicago, in 1984. We would ship it to him if shipping weren't so outrageous, so instead he just bought a different used piano for his apartment in L.A. The Starck hasn't been tuned in 10 years, is only slightly flat, but he says the action is good. The veneer is scratched and chipped. How do you suggest we price it? Something reasonably fair to us, but priced to sell... Any advice you could offer would be most appreciated. spinet 1--overview spinet 2--keyboard spinet 3--logo spinet 4--action spinet 5--action spinet 6--pedals spinet 7--leg spinet 8--back spinet 9--side Many thanks!

That piano was probably fairly old in 1984, and is older now. I would say it was made no later than the early 1950s, which means it is about 60 years old. When I bought my first piano for $150, it was about the same age, and it was a better piano to begin with. I suspect that $200-$300 would be an asking price, and it may go for less.

No worries, no offense taken. I came here for honest opinions. We paid $700 or $900 twenty-five years ago. We can always just donate it, if one of the charities will take it.
What do others say?

>Not real valuble but some aspiring musician would appreciate it for the right price.
At what price would you offer it, pianobroker?
Thanks, Steve. I'll call some charities and see if they're willing to pick it up. It's on a second floor. My sister-in-law got a (apparently decent) baby grand from the Salvation Army years ago.
I appreciate having this place to ask questions.
