Have checked craigslist major cities, Google and ebay. Not much out there. It's a buyers market, but few are advertising. Where can I look? Would prefer private party, but will consider retail outlets. Dick

Nine foot pianos generally start their lives in the hands of concert venues and institutions. When they're little long in the tooth for that, they next go to decorate the homes of rich folks. Next stop is sometimes donation or inheritance by a charity that doesn't know what to do with it, and may sell it at an attractive price. So, ask around the local hospitals, orphanages and such that the rich in your area donate to. Where is that, BTW?

Manuel Bernaschek has a pretty nice one from around 2008. Contact him at Showcase Pianos in Vancouver, B.C.

What about rebuilt D's with more or less everything replaced with new parts except for the cabinet, the plate, and some hardware? No longer an "original" Steinway but it's still closer to a Steinway than anything else.
