The Nord Electro 3 does not respond to pitch bend commands, so even if you hooked something up, the Nord itself would not respond to it.

If you are using the piano as a MIDI controller then yes, a MIDI pitch bend device would work. But if the Nord does not listen to bends you are only going to get them if you use a software instrument that does. Or if you "bend" the audio.

If you want to look for audio processors, again start with your computer. I'd expect you'll get the best audio quality if you buy a pitch shifter plug-in for a DAW. The industry "standard" is "Melodyne" but I don't know if it works for live performance

Or go with a pitch shifter pedal. There are a lot of them on the market. They are all very different you will have to try them. The Boss pedal below has a build-in on/off foot switch to bypass it. you would need to plug in a variable control pedal or something like it. There are just tons o them. The line between software are hardware is blurred because the little box is nothing more than a computer inside.

Yes, that would be another way to get that kind of effect... besides the Boss mentioned, the Behringer US600 is a lot less expensive.

That's true the Behringer is a full-on clone of the Boss. Except for the plastic vs. metal construction and so on.

An even cheaper way to see if you like the idea is software. If you already have Apple's Logic then you already have "main stage" and inside Mainstage is a wide assortments of effects one of them being "Pitch Shifter II". It is a software pitch shifter for real time use and you can connect the "cents" or the "semi tone" slide to a MIDI control that you keep near the piano.
