Hello everyone,

Quick question here. I just purchased a P95, like it quite a bit, but I'm having an issue with the metronome. I'm able to change the time signature normally, but as soon as I start recording myself using the keyboard's recording system, the metronome changes to 3/4 timing and will not let me use another time signature until I have turned the recording off.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution or is it a problem with the DP itself?

Thanks.

Can we assume you've read the owner's manual where it states you can change the time signature by first pressing and holding Metronome while choosing the appropriate voice or by depressing a specific key on the keyboard? (page 14 of the owner's manual)

If that doesn't work, let us know.

Yes. This works when playing normally, but not while recording. As soon as I hit the record button, the metronome reverts back to 3/4 time. Oddly enough, I am able to adjust the tempo of the metronome, but not the time signature, while recording.

I vaguely remember a similar problem with a Yamaha keyboard.

Anyone ... ?

Some instruments do not allow settings to be changed while recording, therefore it's required to set-up everything beforehand.

Try selecting the record function first, then - while still in 'record standby' mode - change the metronome tempo/time signature. Once you have everything set-up as desired, press a key to start the recording.

Please note that I have no experience with the Yamaha P95, however the above should work. If not, contact Yamaha technical support directly.

Cheers,
James

James, that sounds like excellent advice!

On an unrelated note, I looked at your profile and I don't see a Kawai keyboard. How can that be?

Good question - I'm not entirely sure.

However, I only have a small apartment, and cycle to band practises with my keyboard. I certainly do miss playing on a good quality weighted action, though, so perhaps I'll have to look into adding a Kawai board. There are quite a few developments happening at the moment, so if I play my cards right I may be able to pick-up a prototype. wink

Cheers,
James

Thanks for everyone's help. Unfortunately, I still can't get the metronome to work as desired, so it seems I will be calling Yamaha to see what's up.
