I had an interesting glitch happen yesterday and managed to fix it.

For some reason the memory slot insert (for a camera card) didn't register, the computer did not 'see' the card. I even did a soft reboot and I still couldn't transfer information from the card, the card was not 'seen'. I opened the tower make sure the connection was good but the problem persisted.

I did a hard reboot - I turned off the computer completely, waited a few seconds and started up again. The problem went away. This was an old lesson, sometimes you really have to shut the computer down completely and restart it.
