Hello all, this is my first post in this forum, so this is a pseudo introduction to my coming here and doubling as a post for my piano compositions. I've been playing the piano for quite some time, although I've gotten out of practice over the years and my hands/fingers have severely weakened from getting used to playing on a non-weighted keyboard. I plan on lurking around these forums in search of advice to get back to where I was and eventually better at the piano.

Anyway, looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here.

My compositions can be streamed at:

Cheers!

I like your music very much. I was looking for something powerful sounding yesterday and I ended up listening to Rachmaninoff, not very satisfied. This is what I would have liked to listen to. So thanks for sharing.

Is that you playing with your hands, or it's the computer software? That piano is so powerful!

Thanks, glad you liked it. smile The piano in those records is a sampled piano. I'd use a real piano but I don't have one that... well, sounds like a 7' Steinway. :[ One day... maybe...

I have a fetish for loud bass hits in piano music... I just love how powerful it sounds. Whenever I play the 1st movement of Moonlight Sonata there are parts where the dynamics say "mp" or some other moderate to low velocity markings, and I find myself playing it fortissimo sometimes, especially in the more dramatic sections of the song. laugh

Are the songs you have on soundcloud originals?

Cool!
It's a sampled piano but what I meant to ask is if you played it or you composed the score and it was played back by the computer. If you played it, I congratulate you, if you wrote the dynamics I congratulate you too, it's very realistic.

And yes, the recordings I uploaded to soundcloud are originals, I wrote a draft score for a couple of them, half of them just improvisations which I played only once.

By the way, I do the same with Moonlight Sonata, haha!

Gotta love artistic interpretation. smile

All the recordings were written out on the comp with hefty amounts of editing on the velocity & tempo. I think the fact I can play the piano helps when I'm trying to emulate the sound of someone actually playing the piece. The only one I think could be better done by a long shot is "The Blossom" but I wrote that one out by hand(pencil & paper) first and I rushed through the production of the mp3 due to how long I had spent scribbling on paper. Delicate Strings and Nothing Ever Lasts we're improvisations originally, but I quantized and fine tuned things in the MIDI recordings of them to make a more polished mp3.
