Hello Piano World! I'm new to this forum, so I just thought I might share one of my compositions with all of you. I wrote it back when I was 11 yrs. old. All constructive criticism would be appreciated.

I was very much prepared to say that I don't care about the age of the composer, but the result and the result should be compared with that of other people regardless of age, but...

but...

This IS a wonderful work actually! There are a few things that I could provide as pointers, but I'd also like to know your age right now!

Here are some thoughts.

* There is quite a bit of rhythmic variety both in tempo, rhythm and even style (with even some jazz styles) and while your harmonic progression is quite clever in some ways, there's also some kind of awkward feeling going on and something a bit static there...
* The whole work is based on, pretty much, the same idea on the left hand, which certainly is consistent and coherent, but as an idea, perhaps a variation would make things more interesting? Or a contrasting theme?

But really there's not much else I could recommend and I think that you got the 2nd place rightfully (which really makes me wonder about the first place really, cause your work is really a brilliant little gem.)!
