Forgot to let you know that I did not have a chance to play on May 26 and 27 due to the holiday weekend. (No piano available where we went.) I will also be away this weekend, June 2 and 3 for a family function in Atlanta and it is unlikely I'll get to play.

Put me on the back on the wagon. I missed practicing yesterday (5/31/12) because I had a 14 hour day at work, and I have a visitor, so by the time I got home at 11 p.m. I didn't want to keep them awake by practicing.

Can your fingers itch to play the piano and your mind long for the sounds of Chopin and Beethoven? We had a fabulous vacation in Washington DC absorbing as many sights and sounds of the city as we could. I had my music with me and played silently on the breakfast table (my husband probably likes that better). So I had no piano on Friday June 1 until today June 9 (except for June 7 when I played at a friend's house). I'm leaving again on Tuesday for Pittsburgh.

What a wonderful trip ---and yes, I can well believe longing for your piano and music....I will be piano-less for a stretch this summer and am not looking forward to it. frown

Let me know your exact dates when you get back from your next trip - safe travels!

I don't think I'm cut out for MOYD. For me, being master of my own domain means being able to say no, I don't feel like it tonight. Still playing 29 days out of 30, but the pressure to play on that 30th day makes it a chore, not a fun hobby.

Remove me from the list, please? No offense, it just isn't for me. smile

No offense taken. I think your perspective on being master ofyour own domain is 100% valid - we've had discussions on that before. As long as we're having fun at whatever regime we've imposed on ourselves...that's what counts!

I'm still playing every day. Most days, 45 minutes - an hour of actually practicing; occasionally, 10 minutes or so of playing something fun.

Good for you Carol!

I find that there are some days I'm just not in the mood to practice, so I just "play" and that makes me smile.
Other days I'm in the mood to dig in and get over the stumbling blocks of new pieces.

It all adds up, doesn't it?

I wish my current pieces were coming together. I've abandoned that keyboard for this one, out of pure frustration tonight!!! grrr

I'll try again tomorrow! (of course!!!!)

Greetings all
Just got back from my first time to Pittsburgh and it's a lovely place. The ethics conference was inspiring (I was in over my head on a lot of it so it encourages me to study and think). The conference was held on the campus of Duquesne University and I thought to call the school of music and see if I could use a practice room. They were so kind and welcoming. I had the use of a Steinway everyday there on campus and my colleagues understood me missing an hour of conference to attend to my need to play the piano. No days missed on this trip.

I'm definitely out, please remove me from the list. Let's hope 2013 will be better for my practice.

I need to go on the "excused" list for several days. I'm having surgery tomorrow and don't know how long I'll be out of action. (Nothing life-threatening: a Heller myotomy and Dor fundiplication for the medically minded of you).
