Yes, I've started working on some Debussy preludes. I just finished learning the notes of the first one (book 1) and plan to study a couple more soon. Maybe we should have a Debussy e-cital. If people are interested, we could even do a John Cage e-cital and that would be a great opportunity for us to learn some material which we otherwise might not have.

Awesome. I will give you links when I'm ready . PW (volunteers) also does these e-citals and I haven't seen a Debussy e-cital so far. It should be very interesting if people jump in on the idea.

I'm working on Debussy's "Reflets dans l'eau" (now memorized) and "Hommage à Rameau," both from Images, (Première Série)) and both for performance this summer.
I never paid much attention, in the past, to the "Hommage à Rameau," although I heard a fine performance of it this summer, but now that I am studying it closely, it emerges as a wonderfully evocative and idiomatically individual work; I find it quite remarkable.
Regards,

I've been working some on Debussy's etudes, especially No. 5 (pour les octaves) and 12 (pour les accords). Wonderful music, difficult to internalize.

Maybe a 2012 anniversary e-cital? Absolutely! So anybody with the necessary technical expertise here willing to volunteer to host this?

I think as long as everyone has their videos on youtube, and post the link on this thread! I can embed them into one blog page entry :)So get practicing and upload them, then post them here! Some of us do not post videos; we post MP3 files on box.net. Regards,

I'm working on Debussy's "Reflets dans l'eau" (now memorized) Regards, Bruce, that is such a fantastic piece of music, good luck with it! Let's see, I've learned Ondine this year and am now learning Debussy's Ondine. I'm not terribly familiar with Thalberg's music but will make a point to dig deeper this year. There was also a small mistake on the linked site: It said it was the 150th anniversery of Debussy's death, but it's really his birth. He's not that old!
